The 2012 Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championship is seeking enthusiastic people who love the championship and want to volunteer. Volunteer opportunities are available from Jan. 17 through Feb. 5. The Breckenridge Recreation Center will offer a competitive lacrosse program for boys and girls ages 10-14; practices will start in March, but teams must be determined by February. The meeting will take place in the multi-purpose room at the Breckenridge Recreation Center from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. To help local food banks meet rising demand, the Summit County Libraries will collect food goods in lieu of monetary fines for overdue library materials, from Jan. 3-14.According to Social Services, items specifically requested are: soups, stews, canned meat, rice, peanut butter, beans, cereal, powdered milk and crackers.
Only foods requested by Social Services will be accepted, at this time. Food cannot be used in payment for lost library materials. Start the New Year off right, with a clean slate and no fines. There are no set required amounts to cover your fines ? just let your conscience be your guide.

Keystone Nordic Center Kids Learn-to-Ski Program
Summit County kids in grades K-5 are invited to learn to cross-country ski in one of our fun after-school camps. $26 per camp includes equipment & three lessons & refreshment. Camps take place Mondays from 4:15-6 p.m.: Jan. 9, 16 and 23; and Feb. 6, 13 and 20. Feb. 27 is an all make-up day. Parade float entries are now being accepted for the 2012 Ullr Fest parade, the centerpiece of Breckenridge's weeklong celebration of the Norse god of snow, Ullr.
